But what’s going on behind the scenes? Digestion actually plays a big role in your overall health. We’re here to answer your digestive questions and help you better understand how it could be affecting your wellness.

What happens when we chew?

Chewing is the first step in the digestion process-it’s when your saliva first begins to break down your food.

What’s the difference between the large and small intestines?

The large intestine is responsible for breaking food down further, while the small intestine is responsible for absorbing nutrients from the food you just ate.

What causes our digestive system to get out of whack?

The food we eat and things we drink can sometimes be high in bacteria-and not the good kind. This can cause your gut flora to become imbalanced. Luckily, the same thing that causes an unbalanced gut (poor diet) can correct it-healthy diet!

What types of symptoms result from an unbalanced digestive system?

Gas, cramping, bloating, weak immune system, headaches, skin rashes, sugar cravings, and even chronic inflammation can result from a poor digestive system.

What can I eat to heal my gut?

Choose foods like bone broth, raw cultured dairy, sprouted seeds, foods high in omega 3’s, probiotics and prebiotics-just make sure you’re also selecting foods from this list with low added sugar!
